9-11 March 2018
Conservatorium Maastricht (CM) and the Dutch-Flemish Society for Music Theory (VvM) are organising a conference and youth symposium from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 March 2018, under the title "Music Theory and Integration".
Conference
How do you integrate music theory into the curriculum or into performance practice or into research? How do you integrate the various disciplines such as analysis, ear training, harmony etc. into a theory lesson?
During this conference, the above topics will be discussed from various angles, within the context of current Dutch-Flemish education. The presentations and workshops (of over an hour each) are practical and tie in with everyday practice.
The Scroll Ensemble
On Friday morning, the conference will be opened by The Scroll Ensemble, a unique ensemble that takes early music as the starting point for exciting improvisations and concepts. For more information: www.thescrollensemble.com/nl.
Youth Symposium
For the youth symposium, which will be held simultaneously, we are inviting starting music theorists and music theory students to attend a wide variety of presentations & workshops (of over an hour each). There will also be a platform to discuss specific aspects, questions and problems facing starting music theorists.
